Tons of toys - Yipee!
When you tell your children to get ready for bath what do they do? Immediately they run into their room to find toys to play with in the water. The bath must be journey before they think it's fun. This is the issue in 'Tub Toys' - a cute and funny children's picture book co-written by Terry Miller Shannon and her son Timothy Warner.

The real 'star' in this book is Timothy Warner's son Liam who gave inspiration to the creation of this book. When the book arrived in the mail to me I showed it to my three year old daughter, and she LOVED it! The book is written in verses and has wonderful and funny illustrations done by Lee Calderon.

There is no limit of what the little boy in the book is taking with him in the tub. A bit sad about that he only has ONE bath duck; he takes revenge and throws all other animals in the tub, so his duck won't be lonely. How it all ends I won't tell you; but how do his parents handle this situation?

This book is the perfect gift for a young child. The illustrations are many and are the perfect affect for conversation with the child. I can tell you it was funny to see what my daughter got out of this book. It's a fiver!

Terrific Tub Toys
Tub Toys is truly a terrific book by Terry Miller Shannon and son, Timothy Warner. I was reminded of my own tub time toy experiences as a child while reading. This book is delightful, fun, bright, witty, and even silly. I think a few of my favorite touches were the jacket and the cover design being different from eachother, what a thoughtful touch. I also enjoyed the authors' play on words as the toy search escalates. I thought the Mom and Dad turning into ocean creatures was a fun twist. As if the child's imagination was completely submerged in the water.
As soon as this book arrived I sat down and read it to my daughter. She has dozens of books and brought this one to me three times in a row so that she could hear the rhyme and see the lively illustrations. She's young now, but will surely grow up loving this book. Even now, at 14 months, bath-time is her favorite time of day, she gets so excited about her rubber duckies and her bubbles. I know that she'll be able to relate to the young boy in the story as she grows.
Terry, Timothy, and Lee, you have all done a tremendous job with this one! I look forward to your next collaborations with great excitement and I thank you on my daughter's behalf for sharing your amazing talent for writing and illustrating with the world! Cheers!!!

Been There, Done That : A Novel
Published in Paperback by Simon & Schuster (01 July, 2003)
Author: Darrien Lee
Average review score:

Well It's About Time!
I got so excited that this book was about to be released that I actually re-read "All That and a Bag of Chips." That's unusual for me. But it really added to my enjoyment of "Been There, Done That." I read both books in two days. I barely worked, didn't do the laundry, and I ate take-out, anything to spare some time to finish these books. I read as if my life depended on it. Darrien Lee wrote characters that haunt you until you finish the book. As a reader you find yourself needing that closure. And when you finally do finish the book you find yourself wishing that you hadn't read it so fast, because now the suspense is over. What a trip Darrien Lee took me on. Venice, Craig, and Jarvis are both passionate and layered. And the supporting cast of the book are outstanding. They complement the story so well. So now I really can't wait for "What Goes Around, Comes Around." I'm sure I won't be disappointed. So please do yourself a favor, order "Been There, Done That", then order "All That and a Bag of Chips." You need them both!! You won't be sorry. Enjoy!

Wonderful
I could not wait for this book the sequel to All that and a Bag of Chips. This book was wonderful. I loved the fact that Venice and Craig got together. I thought they should have been together in the first book their love was stronger. The sequel made up for it.

An Interesting Sequel....
This was a book I eagerly anticipated, for ALL THAT was indeed, ALL THAT!!! As I began reading, a gamaut of emotions swirled through as I indentified with the real emotional turmoil her returning female lead Venice Anderson felt when... WHAT YOU'D THINK, I GIVE IT AWAY??? BUY THE BOOK!!!!

Craig Bennett, the noble runner-up from the prequel, is on board as well. Seven years later, does he find love again? For that, you have to read a well told, fast paced story. Between the drama and excellent plot, Darrien delivers a powerful message with regards to the afterlife that you don't want to miss, and she does this with style, as well as a growth in writing love scenes that leaves you begging for more.

Simple, yet effectively, Darrien gets the job done.

The Complete Guide to Sharpening
Published in Paperback by Taunton Press (December, 1996)
Author: Leonard Lee
Average review score:

Complete and Easy to Follow
Sharpening is not, as it seems to the beginner, half black magic and half luck. Grasp a few simple principles and obtain the correct materials outlined in this book and with a very little practice one can ceate a sharp edge on all important hand tools.Lee's style is friendly (many anecdotes are interspersed throughout the book) and his well-illustrated directions are complete and easy to understand. There is some highly technical and involved information in the first two chapters, but you don't really have to slog through it to sharpen well.

before you buy a "sharpening system", read this!
I checked this book out from my local library, and read it cover to cover. It is so full of practical and useful information, I think I will have to purchase it to add to my library.

Lee covers theory, research about metallurgy and how wood reacts to sharp edges, with very practical applications of this theory and research. His writing style is very clear and understandable, and his knowledge base is clearly built upon a lifetime of woodworking experience. He points out that, no matter how much you spend for fancy stones, wheels and jigs, and top end tools, you will not get a sharp edge and satisfying result without a basic understanding of wood, metals and abrasives.

The book is nicely illustrated with clear photos and beautiful electron micrographs and very well edited. Essentially all hand woodworking and power tools are covered. It also includes appendices covering research results of how wood reacts to cutting edges and useful reference tables about abrasives.

This is one of those uncommon books that brings together science, art, and craftsmanship is a very pleasant-reading text worth keeping for reference.

A "must have" book for sharpening all your shops tools.
Having read over a dozen books on this topic, this is the best book on how to sharpen every tool in your shop. Lee includes a good review of the different kinds of sharpening stones and alternate methods such as using sanding papers. There are many illustrations to help explain the text and special jigs you might need to perform a job. I am particularly interested in hand planes. The chapter on them includes information on blade angles and how to true and flatten the sole plate that is integral to getting good results after you sharpen the blaade. This is an example of how complete the information is in this book

Labyrinth: A Novel
Published in Paperback by Henry Holt (Paper) (June, 1986)
Authors: A. C. H. Smith, Terry Jones, Jim Henson, and Dennis Lee
Average review score:

Jereth, Sarah and Toby....and odd group
This is a wonderful tale of love, infatuation, and family laced with adventure, friendship, hardship, and triumph. I first read this book in Junior High and later saw the movie. The book in my opinion was much better than the movie, but I found both exceptional.

Sarah made a wish she should have never made, and found out the had way that some wishes do come true. Her baby brother Toby is now missing and she is struggling to find him. She embarkes of a journey where she meets and makes friends who accompany her on her journeys. Just when she thinks she might just win the game, Jereth, King of the Goblins and Toby's captor, throws another wrench into the works.

Through dangers untold...
There is no way I can write a review good enought for this novel. It is, hands WAY down, the best fantasy ever written. It is the biggest shame that it should be out of print, and that the only place to find it anymore is on the internet. There is no way that you can not fall in love with every single character, especially Jareth, the seductive, and evil, yet good Goblin King. It is the essence of magic, and everyone should read it. It is a definite yes for those who saw the movie and loved it, because it holds true to the script. I'm begging the publishers, on my hands and knees, no, lower, to please please please put this book back into print. No one should miss it!

No one's too old for Labyrinth
Since I was only nine, I adored the movie. I read the book a little while later, and I love that even more. Things aren't identical to the movie, exactly, making it a whole new experience. I wish I had a copy of my own, but they're hard to find. So, if you find it, you won't regret purchasing. It's wonderful for all ages, and each time you read, you'll find something you missed the time before.

Fabulous Nobodies
Published in Hardcover by William Morrow (April, 1989)
Author: Lee Tulloch
Average review score:

"Chick Lit" Before It Even Had A Name
Before Bridget Jones, Sex and the City, or Shopaholic, there was Lee Tulloch's "Fabulous Nobodies."

Lee Tulloch was once the editor of Australian Vogue, and she puts her knowledge of fashion and the whole fashion glam scene to hysterically funny use in this little novel. The book opens with a hilarious narrative about the main character's nails of all things.

It's been years since I read Fabulous Nobodies, but it's a definite stand-out in a genre that didn't exist when the book was published in the early 90s. If you're in your 20s, a slave to fashion, any or all of the above, you've got to read this book. You can finish it in a day and you'll spend most of the time laughing at the antics of the main character and her crew. Our 20s are a great time of life (if only in retrospect), because we're no longer teenagers but not quite mature enough to be adults, so there's much goofing off, goofing around, and goofing up to learn from (or at least laugh about). Fabulous Nobodies is filled with all three. Don't miss this one.

this is a terribly funny book!
This book is so devilishly funny, awful, and charming at the same time! Reality Nirvana Tuttle might be one of the most unusual charactures I've ever encountered. I found this book at a used book store, and have actually read it a few times, since it is one of my dearest favorite books. It's sharp satire to be sure, but it also has a lot of heart, which makes it an endearing little read. So, you should try and find a copy...it's so much fun!

Excellent reading about nothing much. Wonderful.
I bought the Fabulous Nobodies off the clearance table for 1 dollar and I read the book to death. A fun wonderful story about Reality Tuttle and her adventures while trying to become the most popular, best dressed girl in NYC! Clothes are an addiction as well as her obssession with getting an article written about her to put in the village rag..JUST BEAUTIFUL! And in the end the girl gets the guy, the clothes and the article.

Morevi: The Chronicles of Rafe and Askana
Published in Paperback by Dragon Moon Press (24 May, 2002)
Authors: Lisa Lee and Tee Morris
Average review score:

Superior start for new entrants into the milieu
Lisa Lee and Tee Morris have a well crafted first novel to share with the lucky reader. The solid mix of history and fantasy evokes many alternate history authors and the detail of the Morevi world adds instant texture to this work. I was especially pleased at the character interaction between the two characters. Both are strong but reveal many hidden intricacies and subtle personality traits which breathe added life into a VERY lively book.

From its humble internet beginnings, the story of the two authors success is as fascinating as the book itself. I had the distinct pleasure of enjoying this book in the pleasant clime of the islands, it made the tale that much more real.

Welcome to Morevi and let the adventure begin...
Look out Errol Flynn, there's a new guy in town and his name is...Rafe Rafton!

Morevi is jam packed with intrigue and excitement every time you turn the page. This epic novel is fast paced and filled with characters that emerge from the written words to delight the reader's imagination as you join them on their fantastical journey.

Through Tee Morris and Lisa Lee's gifted prose, they take you on a wild voyage through time to an entirely new world that will keep you in awe at every new discovery. If that's not enough for you--there's more: The preciseness of the historical aspects of this novel blended into the fantastical world of Naruihm and the realm of Morevi was so seamless, I couldn't tell where one ended and the other began-a perfect blending of fact and fiction!

Still need more of a reason to read this fabulous story? How about political intrigue-back stabbing-forbidden love-and mystical creatures and magical powers...oh my! It's all here folks waiting for you to read it.

If you don't want to miss out on one of the best written fantasy novels around, you better get yourself a copy, take a couple days off, and travel to the mystical realm of Morevi and let the adventure sweep you away--as it did to us...

Sharp tongues, sharp swords, sharp wits
This fantastic fantasy novel, the debut offering for both Lisa Lee and Tee Morris, creeps up on the reader like a dream: there is no escape, nor is there the desire for one.

From the very start the characterization and the action are a constant draw on your attention and all you can possibly want is more, not because the story is lacking, but because it is addictive. With a variety of vividly portrayed settings you enter a world that is like no other you have ever seen, meeting there characters that you either love or love to loath. In either case they are masterfully done.

I would highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for a rich read and to the authors I would say: Let's see how you intend to top this one... No, really... There better be a sequel : )

The Case for Christ (Pack of 6)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Zondervan (01 September, 1998)
Author: Lee Strobel
Average review score:

SUPERB evidence for the existence of Jesus!
Lee Strobel has done his homework and produced an excellent book on the evidence for the existence of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He asks all the questions the common man/woman would ask.

The best part of the book is at the very end. Lee asks us, "So what!" Now that we are armed with all of this evidence, what do we do with it? It's up to us to decide to follow Jesus or not. There's SO much evidence. There is no denying that Jesus Christ is truely the Son of God. There are so many facts from both secular and sacred sources that prove it.

I encourage the skeptic, the agnostic, the atheist, the Jew, the Buddist, the Hindu, etc., and even the person who "thinks" he/she is a Christian, to read this easy-to-read book, and then try to dispute the findings.

For those who were already convinced that Jesus is the Son of God, it will only strengthen your faith. It did mine!

Julie A. Belonger

Logical and Revealing
Strobel does a respectable job of making a case for Christ's existence, death and resurrection. This book reports on many interviews the author had with experts in many different areas. Many other resources are presented and reviewed. This saves a tremendous amount of time for someone wanting to research the validity of Christ. There are probably many things you did not know about and also many things you do know about but never connected. This book is one of the must-read books of the Christian faith.

Does the job, of an Apologetics book.
To start out, let me say that being a Christian my review might/will be biased. =)

From the many Apologetics-jargon for defending our faith, not for apologising for it-type books this falls in the middle category in complexity, in evidence, and understandability. Having an analytical mind, this book was easy for me to read. Strobel interviews "experts" in their particular fields like Craig Blomberg (expert in the Gospels). Who in turn would give out the evidence, in Blomberg's case why the Gospels (Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John) are truthful and accurate. Other chapters deal with, archeology, psychology, medical view of death/resurrection, historical accuracy, etc.

I led a Bible Study with this book at UC Irvine, and the students were not fully able to understand the train of thought of Strobel in some chapters, which surprised me. However, they were excited to find more facts in what they believed.

Yet, this is a more complicated book than Paul Little's "Know why you believe" but definitely easier to digest than C.S. Lewis' books such as "Problem of Pain" or "The Great Divorce" (I'd have to read some sentences/paragraphs 2-3 times before understanding), or J.P. Moreland's "Scaling the Secular City" (in which after reading some paragraphs 4-5 times I would wonder if it was written in english at all, albeit an excellent philosophical book)

As this book is a "summary" of each particular topic, it doesn't go in-depth in any one topic, but it would be a great starting point as it has citations and references to 120+ "academic" books.

All in all, I think this is a great book for NEW believers, to re-affirm their faith, and answer their questions at heart. Can't really say this book would turn an unbeliever to Christ, but it might help for those who need questions answered. After all, God works in wonderful (weird?) ways.

The Design of CMOS Radio-Frequency Integrated Circuits
Published in Paperback by Cambridge University Press (January, 1998)
Author: Thomas H. Lee
Average review score:

Excellent introduction to CMOS RF Design
Possibly the most well-written book on CMOS design I have ever read. Relaxed, readable style and an emphasis on core ideas and rule-of-thumb design rules, makes this an extremely useful practical guide, as well as a great introduction to a complex topic. Some excellent advanced material on oscillator design too. I particularly liked the first and last chapters giving a history of radio design - very interesting background. I think the best compliment I can give this book is that I found it difficult to put down - for a circuits textbook, that is truly an incredible achievement!

The first chapter alone is worth the money.
The first chapter of this book gives a history of radio design with schematics. The cmos portion gives a good coverage of RF components, smith charts, CMOS inductors, Bandwidth estimation techniques etc. More an RF issues book than a cmos layout book with almost all layout examples being single components. This is an excellent single issue book focused on Radio design specifically CMOS radio design. Those looking for a book focused on CMOS design should buy this book in addition to another.

The best book I ever read on Electronic
You can find here a fine description of last RF design knowhow, with answers to questions I'd like to have before. Thank you Mister LEE!!!

Katy and the Big Snow
Published in School & Library Binding by Houghton Mifflin Co (31 August, 1973)
Author: Virginia Lee Burton
Average review score:

My son loves Virginia Burton's books
I ordered this book for my son for his 7th b'day. He loves anything to do with transportation, and discovered Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel first. He checked that book out of the school library every week for more than a month, then I helped him find Katy and the Big Snow, and he loved it just as much. I remember enjoying these books when I was a child, and I think it is wonderful that books like these still bring enjoyment to the children today.

Hard to believe, I still remember
At 51 years of age and very recently a first time grandfather with the aid of Amazon.com I started searching for my favorite stories from decades ago. All of Dr.Suess and the Little Engine That Could to Thorton Burgess's many publications that make me smile so many years later. Of all my past memories Katy and the Big Snow was one that I checked out of our local Library at least 3 times a month. It taught me that determination is most important in acheiving goals and that good things come to those who wait and endure. These are the types of books our younger generation should be reading instead of what is available on television these days. I hope someday my Grandchildren will come to enjoy this book as I have.

Perserverance
Wonderful childrens book, enjoyable machinery come to life displaying a snow truck as a child. Lovely illustrations although remincent of the 50's.
